1. Summary
Fusible
interlining is the main auxiliary material of modern garment
production. Its appearance has much to do with the fast
development of chemical industry, especially the macromolecular
chemistry. Developed countries of Europe have started to
industrially produce fusible interlining since 1960s. Within
the 40 years, fusible interlining's production technique
has developed very fast and its related process equipments
has advanced constantly. Meanwhile, its application range
becomes more and more wide. It is not merely generally used
in garment field but also used substantially in other fields
such as shoes, hats, boxes, bags, decoration, etc. For the
characteristics like convenient processing and use, good
performance, fusible interlining trigged a technical revolution
in garment industry soon after its appearance. In the revolution,
the phenomenon of adhesion replacing seaming emerged in
the traditional garment processing. This change had simplified
the processing technique of garment seaming, improved the
production efficiency, lowered the cost of products and
promoted the mechanization and modernization of garment
production. Fusible interlining has endowed garment special
molding and shape-retentive performance such as stiff, full,
long shape-retentive time, good elasticity, fine line, easy
washing, durable, etc. It can make up the defects of garment
and will make the wearer's dress more comfortable and more
beautiful.
In china, the production of fusible interlining started
late and the use of it was in the early part of 1980s. After
the reform and opening to the outside world, in order to
meet the improving dress requirements of people, China introduced
fusible interlining's production technique from foreign
countries and has gradually formed industrial production
scale which laid a foundation for the universal application
of fusible interlining in the garment industry. That army
firstly used fusible interlining on military uniform set
up an example for the national technical reform of garment
industry. Currently our country's production technique and
production capacity of fusible interlining have developed
quickly with mature production technique and homemade equipments
and China has already become a big fusible interlining production
country. Its annual production capacity has developed to
over one billion meters from former just several million
meters. It can not only fulfill the domestic needs of garment
production but also supply a large number of products to
other countries. In variety, it has formed high scale, medium
scale and low scale series of woven, knitted, nonwoven and
other kinds of base cloth. With the development of garment
industry, fusible interlining has become the indispensable
and most important auxiliary material of modern garment
and has great development prospect.
